Theseniorinformationdeveloper (ID)isatechnical documentation specialist who candeliver high quality content andguidejunior team membersto do the same.You willorganisedevelopmentwork on a daily and weekly basisforyourteam.As part ofthe Global Technical Communicationsteamlocated in Cork,you willsupportJohnson Controls business units to fulfil their technical documentation requirements. Thesenior IDplaysan important role inimplementingthe tech comms roadmapand is expected to contribute to improving the quality of their team’s content.Youwill work closely with stakeholder teams to deliver technical content according toproductdeadlines.
How you will do it
The Senior IDindependentlydevelopscomplex documentsanddocument strategiesfor team members. You will work with engineers to obtain source material and will supervise otherinformationdevelopers in the creation ofdocumentationsetsfor new products (mainly JCI security products).As anexpert in the technical writingfield, youwill implementstandardindustrystyleguidesinaddition totheJCI house style. Youwillwork withdocument control andpeer review systems.Youwillinteract with engineers from around the world.You shouldadaptreadily to changing work demandsandmaintain composure under pressure.You mustworkeffectively withpeers,shareinformation,demonstrateintegrity,and deliver on yourcommitments.
What we look for
Extensiveexperiencewriting and editing technical content.
Four year degree in a writingor technicaldiscipline (technicaldocumentation,journalism,English,computer science).
4 yearsas a technical writer.
Expertiseincreatinga variety ofoutputsincludingPDFs, web, help files, andotherdigital media.
Experienceunderstanding ofdocumentation softwaresuch asArbortext,Oxygen,Framemaker,MadCapFlare, etc.
Ability to createraster and vectorillustrations with minimal supervision usingstandard tools such asAdobe Photoshop,Illustrator, or GIMP.
Knowledge ofestablished processes, style guides,and best practices for the design and creation of technical content
Previous leadership responsibilities
Background in topic-based writing
Planning and scheduling skills
Project managementskills
Knowledge ofDITAor other XML standards
Experience withAPI documentation
Experience working on global team
