TOBIN has an exciting opportunity for a Resident Engineer to join our Building and Infrastructure Division on a fixed-term 18-month contract based onsite at Shannon Airport, Shannon, Co.
Clare.
This contract has the potential to be extended beyond the initial 18 months, with opportunities for involvement in future projects at the same location.
Working Hours: 8am – 5pm
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will have circa 5-10 years experience in a similar role
Previous experience in civil and building projects is essential.
Previous experience on projects consisting of complex facades
Ability to monitor and record building works to ensure compliance with works requirements and statutory approvals.
Knowledge of the Building Control Amendment Regulations would be advantageous.
Experience in or ability to monitor construction programmes, phasing, sequencing and coordination of activities with Client operations.
Excellent written and verbal (English) communication and interpersonal communication skills.
Airport project-based and/or live environment experience would be advantageous.
General Duties
The Resident Engineer's (RE) primary role is to observe that the works are constructed as designed and instructed by the Employer's Representative (ER).
To report to the Employer's Representative (ER) at all times unless otherwise instructed by the ER.
To observe and record that all materials used in the works are in accordance with the applicable specification as set out in the Works Requirements and any variations agreed with ER and that the required testing is carried out.
To report to the Employer's Representative on all matters pertaining to work on site including any changes in the works or conditions.
To observe the implementation of all instructions issued by the Employer's Representative regarding compliance with the work requirements.
To observe, record and report on the performance of the Contractor.
Coordinate with all members of the Design and Contractor Team in relation to compliance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations.
To be present on-site at all times when work is in progress or, in unavoidable absence through illness or otherwise, to communicate same to the Employer's Representatives.
To be available to monitor/co-ordinate works onsite outside of normal working hours including nighttime and weekends as the need arises.
Liaise with all 3rd Party Stakeholders on matters relating to the works, including airport staff, tenants, utility providers, statutory bodies and other bodies.
To undertake any additional duties as instructed by the Employer's Representative.
Payment Applications & Claims
To assess and report to the Employer's Representative on the Contractor's interim and final Payment Applications.
To attend regular measurement meetings with the Employer's Representative where any difficulties with interim measurement are to be discussed.
To report to the ER on contractual claims/disputes.
Daily Records & Reports
To keep a detailed contemporaneous works diary and comprehensive records of all site activities (including progress, labour, plant, usage, deliveries and day works etc.) and to ensure that all matters having contractual implications are accurately recorded.
Photographs may also be needed as a record.
To check, record and report to the ER as the works progress and to submit a RE Report to the Employer's Representative at a frequency required by him.
Attend regular Client, DT and Contractor Meetings on site as required.
To prepare draft minutes of site meetings and submit for review and issue by the ER.
