Help build and keep the nation's critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7.Reporting to the Service Manager, the Principal Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting and maintaining highly complex, mission‑critical systems, taking ownership of technical design challenges and leading root cause analysis for complex incidents. This position sits at the heart of a high‑profile, life‑critical programme, delivering resilient solutions that underpin Emergency Services Networks across Ireland. This is a hybrid working role which requires travel to the customers site in Dublin 2 days per week.What you’ll do:Provide technical leadership across complex, mission‑critical systems supporting Emergency Services Networks and control room environmentsOwn the design, implementation, and ongoing improvement of back‑end infrastructure and systemsLead root cause analysis for major or recurring incidents, driving permanent corrective actionsAct as the senior technical escalation point for complex technical issuesEnsure high availability, resilience, security, and performance of Windows and Linux Servers, SQL Server, and virtualised environmentsEngage directly with customers, explaining technical issues, solutions, and risks in a clear and professional mannerMaintain accurate and up‑to‑date technical documentation and knowledge bases (WiKi, KEDB) for customer network and systems infrastructure, enabling engineering teams to quickly access critical information and accelerate incident and problem resolutionSupport and mentor engineers, sharing knowledge and promoting best practicesWho you are:You are an experienced Systems Engineer with exposure to working in complex and high‑pressured environments. With strong expertise in SQL, Windows Server, and virtualisation, you are collaborative and clear in your communication with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, taking pride in delivering resilient systems that support critical services.Key Requirements:Proven experience working directly with customers, providing guidance and support across all aspects of systems engineeringStrong hands‑on experience with Windows and Linux systems, including administration and troubleshootingExpertise in Microsoft SQL Server and other relational database technologies (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL)Practical experience with virtualisation technologies, including VMware and data centre infrastructureExperience managing application servers, including updates, imaging, and patch management (e.g., WSUS, ManageEngine)Strong technical skills with proven ability to solve complex problems in high‑pressure, mission‑critical environmentsDemonstrated leadership qualities, with the ability to mentor engineers and lead investigationsMust be eligible for Guarda ClearanceWhat we offer:A career at Telent can span many sectors, roles, technologies and clients giving you the opportunity to develop, learn new skills and make an impact.
