The ideal candidate has a background in mechanical or biomedical engineering with a strong track record of impactful contributions and is ready to provide a new vision for therapy solutions.We are looking for someone to lead design, development, and project engineering efforts in a medical device environment, with a focus on implantable and external devices as applicable, and to contribute to regulatory documentation and risk management.ResponsibilitiesAct as an independent leader in a supportive team environmentEffective design, development, and project engineeringEngage physicians, patients, sales reps, and marketing to collect feedback for devices under developmentDeliver meaningful innovation and submit novel intellectual propertyCreate specifications and perform engineering analysesDesign for cost-effective manufacturabilityDevelop and analyze project scopes and schedulesDefine and validate manufacturing processes, support engineering builds, and verify product performanceTrain and mentor entry-level engineersStay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and competitionDeliver designs that meet goals such as performance, standards, manufacturability, reliability, and costGenerate regulatory audit-worthy design and risk management documentationMinimum QualificationsExperience as a design originator/owner and project engineer in the medical device industry, responsible for new implantable and external device designs, materials, equipment, and processesEducation in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering with a B.S. and 7+ years of experience or M.S. and 5+ years of work experience commercializing productDirect experience utilizing SolidWorks 3D CAD and drafting standards (e.g., ANSI Y14.5)Experience executing projects through commercial launchPreferred QualificationsExperience involving/supporting most of the following: implantable leads, implantable pulse generators, surgical tools, access instruments, or handheld and wearable devicesMaterials biocompatibilityAnimal studies, preclinical studies, cadaver lab, field research and clinical studies to evaluate usability and performance of designed productsEqual opportunity statement: Boston Scientific is proud to be an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
