Job Title: Head of People & Development
About the Role
This is a key position within Connacht Rugby that will provide specialised support, advice and assistance on all employment matters for staff and management. The role will also involve HR project type work as required by the Chief People Officer.
Key Responsibilities and Personal Duties
* Promote a positive working environment through effective Employee Engagement initiatives;
* Liaise with Heads of Departments to ascertain staff development and training needs;
* Support Connacht Rugby's performance management process for the whole organisation.
* Provide support to staff and Managers in any HR-related issues;
* Maintain HR system organisational structure and database;
* Primary responsibility for the administration and logistics of the Recruitment and Selection for Connacht Rugby (including sitting on interview panels when required);
* Liaise with any external consultants during Recruitment & Selection process;
* Draft player and staff contracts of employment;
* Apply for new and renewal work permits to the Dept. of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation;
* Work closely with the IRFU on issues including work permits, player contracting, leavers and new-comers, etc.;
* Manage employee's life cycle;
* Advise staff on leave entitlements: e.g. Maternity, Paternity, Parental, Sick, etc.;
* Administer any staff benefit schemes;
* Keep up to date on all changes in employment law and implement any necessary changes in policies and procedures in conjunction with the IRFU HR Department;
* Communicate with Connacht Rugby employees regarding new or amended HR initiatives/policies;
* Liaise with the IRFU HR Department regarding staff updates (salary changes, role changes, leavers, new comers etc.);
* Administer monthly payroll amendments to the Finance Department;
* Provide guidance, assistance and support to all levels of Management and other support staff at Connacht Rugby;
* Point of contact for all Industrial Relations and Employee Relations;
* Work closely with the RPI Player Development Manager;
* Project management of new initiatives;
* Support the Board of Connacht Rugby and the Governance Nominations Committee with their recruitment
* Other tasks which may be required and designated by the Head of Finance & Business Operations & Chief People Officer, IRFU from time to time.
Requirements and Qualifications
* A recognised degree or postgraduate diploma in a business discipline;
* A minimum of 3 years' experience in the role of Head of HR/People & Development;
* Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills are essential;
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
* The ability to build relationships;
* A good knowledge of employment legislation and current HR practices;
* An experienced coach;
* Working knowledge of HR systems;
* Member of the CIPD;
