The Role
Cubic is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic DevOps Team Lead to manage the DevOps / DevEx Team.
The role and the team it leads are part of the DevOps and Architecture group. This team enables faster delivery and reliability by automating cloud infrastructure and on-premise hardware. The team streamlines deployments, reduces manual effort, and ensures consistent, scalable operations. It also creates an engineering experience for teams by streamlining tools, environments, and practices to accelerate development, create consistency in delivery, improve quality, and reduce friction across the software lifecycle
Key Responsibilities
* Driving best-in-class DevOps engineering principles within the Technology Group.
* Working closely with Engineering Leaders and Architects to align and implement best practices
* Driving efficiency in the team to maximise customer value and minimise waste including a reduction in cycle time, and improved Self-Service capabilities
* Leading the team through an evolution in Continuous Delivery, driving automation of build, deployment and test, across cloud and DC environments
* Providing guidance to direct reports in the performance of their duties, establishing work priorities, and in achieving company initiatives.
* Pro-actively working with cross-functional teams of engineers to drive DevOps practices and tooling adoption.
* Building and maintaining the developer experience tooling (CI/CD pipelines and supporting engineering and AI Tooling infrastructure).
* Build out Engineering Quality Dashboards and Engineering Portals to provide developer experience metrics and insights; gather feedback and drive iterative improvements.
* Driving Lean principles and focusing on continuous process improvement and adoption.
* Tracking metrics and data - communicating with the team and upper management.
* Staying abreast of the latest trends in the DevOps (Cloud and On-prem) space.
Requirements
Essential Skills
* Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, computer/electronic engineering, or related discipline.
* Strong People Management skills
* Experience in Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery & Automation.
* Experience of running and maintaining Hybrid environments in both Data Centre and cloud (AWS or Azure)
* Experience in measuring and improving the performance of production systems.
* Experience with common patterns in distributed systems, e.g. REST, SOA, SaaS, Microservices.
* Experience of practically managing a virtualised DC environment (experience of VMWare or equivalent products)
* Industry experience with Agile development methodologies
* Experience managing and integrating with Engineering Portals
* Experience with any of the following build and deployment automation platforms or similar tooling: Azure DevOps, GitLab, Bamboo, Teamcity, Jenkins, Octopus Deploy.
* Experience using Git, Gitflow (branching model).
* Strong problem-solving skills

New hires at Cubic³ are required to work onsite five days a week during their six-month probation period to get to know the company, their team, and our ways of working. After probation, we offer a flexible arrangement of up to eight work-from-home days per month, provided it aligns with business needs and performance standards.
