About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team and lead cost management activities across a range of commercial, industrial, and high-value construction projects in Dublin. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for commercial delivery, contract administration, and financial performance, working closely with project teams, clients, and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Contract Duties:
* Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documentation.
* Lead procurement activities including subcontractor selection and tender evaluations.
* Conduct feasibility studies and provide accurate cost advice at early design stages.
* Support value engineering and risk management exercises.
Post-Contract Duties:
* Manage all commercial aspects of construction projects from award to final account.
* Monitor project budgets, costs, and cash flow forecasts.
* Prepare and negotiate valuations, variations, claims, and change orders.
* Maintain detailed cost reporting and ensure financial transparency.
* Oversee contract administration in line with public and private sector standards (e.g., RIAI, NEC, FIDIC, Public Works Contracts).
* Liaise with project managers, site teams, design consultants, and clients to ensure commercial objectives are met.
* Mentor junior QS staff and contribute to the development of best practices within the department.
Requirements
* 10+ years' professional QS experience, ideally within commercial and industrial construction.
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or related discipline.
* Chartered status (SCSI/RICS) preferred.
* Strong understanding of Irish construction contracts, procurement routes, and market conditions.
* Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
* Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
* High level of proficiency in cost management software and Excel.
* Strong commercial awareness with the ability to make informed financial decisions.
* Ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
