Purpose of Position: To be primarily responsible for ensuring the College's buildings are safe, well-maintained, and fully prepared to support College activities.
The Premises Supervisor will also ensure that the team is effectively carrying out their duties and must be fully flexible regarding tasks that may be assigned.
Reporting to: The Commercial Manager, Facilities Manager or any other staff member designated by the College.
Key Responsibilities: Contribute to the budget process by forecasting for the daily management of the College and maintain responsibility for the premises budget.
Assist in planning space allocation and ensure timely and effective implementation of changes.
Report all maintenance items to the maintenance helpdesk or Facilities Manager.
Advise on the selection and appointment of cleaning subcontractors and oversee their work.
Ensure all rooms are set up appropriately as required by the College or clients.
Assist in selecting and replacing furniture and fabrics as necessary and ensure their regular maintenance.
Act as Health and Safety Officer for Premises and ensure the College's policy aligns with best practices.
Attend and contribute to facilities management meetings.
Ensure daily cleaning of offices, corridors, stairwells, lecture theatres, and regular cleaning of common areas.
Ensure janitorial services are maintained and toilet supplies are replenished regularly.
Order and maintain necessary stocks and materials for the day-to-day running of the College.
Organise and supervise premises staff.
Maintain facilities in the common room to a high standard.
Ensure that the College grounds and buildings, furniture, and fittings are correctly presented.
This may involve some minor decoration from time to time.
Key Attributes: Strong Organisational Skills Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, coordinate teams, and maintain apparent oversight of premises and cleaning schedules.
Leadership & Supervisory Experience Proven ability to supervise premises staff and cleaning contractors, ensuring high-quality performance and adherence to standards.
Health & Safety Awareness Strong understanding of health and safety policies, with a proactive approach to ensuring a safe environment for staff and visitors.
First Responder training will be provided Budget Management Capability Experience forecasting and managing budgets related to premises.
Hands-On Maintenance Skills Basic handyman or DIY skills for minor decoration or furniture repairs, demonstrating a proactive and practical approach to facility upkeep.
Flexibility & Reliability Willingness to work outside of standard hours when necessary, including occasional Saturday work (paid as overtime), to meet College needs.
Excellent Communication Skills Clear and effective communication with internal departments, contractors, and external clients to support smooth operations.
Customer-Focused Attitude Understanding of the needs of internal stakeholders and external clients, ensuring that rooms and facilities are set up and maintained to a high standard.
