Full-Time – 35.00 hours per week

Position Summary:
Multidisciplinary working is an essential cornerstone of cancer care internationally, the National Cancer Strategy recommends that " patients diagnosed with cancer will have their case formally discussed at a multidisciplinary team meeting " (Department of Health, Multidisciplinary team meetings are specifically scheduled meetings to diagnose; prospectively review individual patients and to make collaborative recommendations on best management (NCCP, MDM Coordinators are key members of the multidisciplinary team and the Cancer Directorate team.
Responsibilities
1.0 Coordination of MDM
* Facilitate and coordinate allocated cancer multidisciplinary team meetings to include:
* Management of meeting dates with the MDM Chair and notifying the wider team of any changes to meeting time, date or venue
* Generating electronic conference lists and circulating to the MDM team prior to each meeting
* Preparation of relevant documentation to facilitate discussions.
* Contacting other hospitals regarding the retrieval of histopathological and radiological material or any other information required for MDM
* Liaise with cancer clinical nurse specialists, cancer data managers and other staff in preparing for MDMs.
* Recording attendances at MDM and the generation of attendee statistics/lists
* When external cases are discussed, ensure outcomes are available to the referring Consultants secretary via an agreed system
* Provide cross functional cover for other MDM coordinators to ensure continuity of service
* Perform all of the above and any additional tasks involving patient data in line with GDPR.
* Notify the CMDM Chair

Quality and Standards
* Participate in the development and review of site-specific standard operating procedures (SOP's) for the effective and efficient running of cancer MDMs, and utilising local and national templates.
* Support the introduction and management of the National Cancer Information System (NCIS) MDM module with the wider project team.
* Support quality improvement work and process improvement work to ensure that MDMs run efficiently and in accordance with relevant standards and guidelines
* Facilitate and participate in MDM service meetings and wider Cancer Directorate
* Participate in the audit of MDM's and the development and implementation of required actions
3.0
Communication and Teamwork
* Establish effective communication networks with internal and external stakeholders and participate in development and change to communication processes.
* Work as a member of the Cancer Directorate and participate in projects and events across the Cancer Centre
* Data Entry across local (Dendrite, BHIS, iPMS) and national (NCIS) systems including the registration of patients for discussion at MDM.
* Be available for 7.30am starts in line with the flexible working time policy to facilitate MDM meetings that start at 7.30am.
Qualifications
Mandatory
* Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc
* Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:
* Have satisfactory experience as a Clerical Officer in the HSE, TUSLA, other statutory
health agencies, or a body which provides services on behalf of the HSE under Section
38 of the Health Act 2004.
Or
(ii) Have obtained a pass (Grade D) in at least five subjects from the approved list of
subjects in the Department of Education Leaving Certificate Examination, including
Mathematics and English or Irish1. Candidates should have obtained at least Grade C
on higher level papers in three subjects in that examination.
Or
(iii) Have completed a relevant examination at a comparable standard in any equivalent
examination in another jurisdiction.
Or
(iv) Hold a comparable and relevant third level qualification of at least level 6 on the
National Qualifications Framework Maintained By Qualifications And Quality Ireland,
(QQI). Note1 :
Candidates must achieve a pass in Ordinary or Higher level papers. A pass in a foundation level
paper is not acceptable.
Candidates must have achieved these grades on the Leaving Certificate Established programme
or the Leaving Certificate Vocational programme.
The Leaving Certification Applied Programme does not fulfil the eligibility criteria.

* Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of
suitability, for the proper discharge of the office.
* Age
Age restriction shall only apply to a candidate where s/he is not classified as a new entrant (within
the meaning of the Public Service Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, A
candidate who is not classified as a new entrant must be under 65 years of age on the first day of
the month in which the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the office occurs.
* Health
Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of
undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a
reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
* Character
Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
Desirable:
* General knowledge of the health service and how it works.
* Awareness of OECI Accreditation and standards.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner.
* Commitment to providing a quality service.
* Excellent MS Office skills to include Word, Excel, MS Teams.
* Strong problem solving skills and ability to contribute as part of a team.
* Previous experience in managing multidisciplinary team meetings.
* Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders and participate in development and change to communication processes.
