ROLE
Appointments may be made at basic, senior or chief level depending on qualifications and experience.
The role of the Medical/Biomedical Scientist is to assist in developing a medical diagnostic service which is clinically relevant, technically innovative, professional, efficient and quality focused. You will carry out a range of scientific tests on tissue samples and biological fluids to help clinicians diagnose and treat diseases. You will be expected to work, in co-operation with the Medical Director and laboratory management, as part of a team in the provision of diagnostic laboratory services in accordance with company policies. You will actively contribute to the operation of a quality management system in compliance with ISO15189 INAB standards and co-operate with the Laboratory Manager(s) and with other senior personnel in training staff as required.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Applicants must be currently registered with CORU (Ireland) or HCPC (UK).
Applicants must have at least 3 years' experience in a private or public clinical laboratory.
Eligible to work in Ireland (Proof Requested).
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
Microbiology:
* Experience with culture and sensitivity testing of urines and swabs, CPE & VRE screening experience is highly desirable
* Use of Sedimax for urine microscopy
* Use of Vitek prime for MALDI-TOF
* Use of Vitek 2 for AST would be highly desirable
Haematology:
* Use of Sysmex XN for FBC
* Use of ACL Top for coagulation studies
* Use of Alifax or starrsed RS for ESR
* Blood morphology preparation and reading of slides would be an advantage
Clinical Chemistry:
* Use of Abbott Alinity C/I
* GLP track experience would be an advantage
* ISO15189 experience would be a distinct advantage
