We are open to speaking with Principal/Senior or Experienced Overhead Line Design Engineers to explore future opportunities in line with our growth strategy to join our Transmission & Distribution team, with roles based in any of our UK offices.
Responsibilities
Deliver a wide range of overhead line (OHL) projects, producing and reviewing technical documents in line with industry standards.
Develop design criteria, conductor selection, structure type selection, insulation coordination and lightning performance.
Develop typical OHL design deliverables, including line schedules, plan/profile drawings, staking tables and special crossings design.
Conduct feasibility studies to assess technical and economic viability of proposed projects.
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (e.g., civil, structural) to ensure the overall integrity of the project.
Qualifications / Experience
You will ideally have a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Structural or Civil Engineering, or equivalent industry experience from hands-on/construction pathways.
CEng or IEng registration or working towards registration would be beneficial.
Experience as an Overhead Line Design Engineer or similar role on Transmission and Distribution projects.
Experience with Design Consultant, Design/Build Contractor or Asset Owner environments is preferred.
Experience using PLS-CADD to carry out both new OHL designs and modifications to existing designs.
Experience working with projects requiring UK design requirements.
Strong understanding of complementary T&D disciplines to OHL design (e.g., HV plant design, HV cable design or T&D civil design) is beneficial.
A broad background with a specialization in OHL is advantageous.
Experience developing OHL deliverables and managing OHL delivery and workload across multiple projects.
