CIÉ has a vacancy for a Personal Injury Claims Handler, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of third-party claims files that may include property damage, personal injury, recovery, defamation and other defined claim types and will be reporting to Section Heads & Head of Group Claims and Risk
Responsibilities and Duties
* Manage allocation of personal injury claims.
* Investigate accidents with the use of CCTV footage to assess the liability position.
* Arrange medical reports to determine quantum.
* Manage claims through the PIRB process and deal with litigation arising in defendable cases.
* Liaise with the bus operators, solicitors, medical experts, Gardai and others daily.
* Be proactive while taking a considered view on whether to defend or compromise cases.
* Provide regular updates to our service users
* Arrangement of medical examinations.
* Conducting site / Engineering inspections as appropriate.
* Dispatch file to CIE Group Solicitors Office or forward to an external Solicitor on receipt of Proceedings.
* Providing briefings for Section Heads & Head of Claims & Risk.
* Working as part of the Group Risk Team and generally supporting staff in the Department.
* Payment requisitions and other associated administrative duties.
* Qualifications and Experience
2+ years' experience handling personal injury claims.
* To have a comprehensive understanding of the PIRB process to include the Personal Injuries Guidelines.
* The ability to manage both litigated and non-litigated injury claims.
* APA (Accredited Product Adviser), minimum qualification.
* Good communication & negotiation skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office.
