Responsibilities for Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Carry out inspections, diagnostics, servicing, and repairs on a range of heavy vehicles in line with safety and technical standards. Undertake complex fault-finding across mechanical and electrical systems and deliver effective solutions. Work efficiently to reduce vehicle off-road time, ensuring minimal disruption to operations. Maintain accurate records of all work carried out, reporting recurring faults and potential issues. Collaborate with Garage Supervisors, Engineers, and external suppliers to resolve technical challenges. Provide guidance and support to apprentices, fostering knowledge transfer and professional growth. Uphold strict health and safety protocols and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. Take ownership of tasks, using available resources effectively to achieve high-quality outcomes. Requirements for Heavy Vehicle Mechanic QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics (or equivalent qualification). At least 3 years of hands-on experience in a similar role. Strong technical expertise with proven diagnostic and mechanical ability. Ability to work independently and manage deadlines within a busy, shift-based environment. Desirable: Full Category D (Bus) Licence. Desirable: Experience mentoring apprentices or junior colleagues.
