Electrical Engineer - Power Systems Specialist
The successful candidate will hold a key role within our organisation, requiring a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to deliver power systems projects. This position demands extensive experience in the design and delivery of high-voltage (HV) topologies.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop detailed designs for sub-station layouts, air insulated switchgear, gas insulated switchgear, earthing requirements, lightning protection, overhead busbar sizing, breaker sizing, HV cable sizing, etc.
* Discuss pros and cons of various design approaches, including fixed/withdrawn switchgear (medium voltage), remote-mounted units, primary/secondary switchgear discussion, etc.
* Work closely with utility companies to ensure smooth project execution.
* Design medium-voltage (MV)/high-voltage (HV) routes for underground installations.
* Design underground draw pits, including cable take-off containment (MV sides of transformers).
* Create transformer compound designs, including secondary-side transformer design and preparation of bills of quantities (BOQs).
* Design control rooms, including protection panel design, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), remote control systems, low-voltage feed panels to transformer fans, etc.
* Understand typical data centre power requirements.
* Size gas plants, including gas generator sizing.
* Prepare single-line designs/preparation for MV/HV installations.
* Collaborate with project managers to obtain updates on new projects and scopes.
* Develop basis-of-design documents for all new projects (HV/MV).
* Create basis-of-estimate documents for all new projects.
* Perform electrical design work as required, covering MV and HV topologies.
* Address on-site faults related to transformers and switchgear.
