Job Title: Senior Occupational Therapist - Paediatrics Job Type: Full Time, agency contract, 6-12 month, likely to be extended. Location: Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. Salary: Aligned with HSE pay scales for Senior Grade Occupational Therapists Excel Recruitment is proud to partner with a Paediatric Primary Care team in Enniscorthy, to recruit a Senior Occupational Therapist. Whether you are a Staff Grade Occupational Therapist ready to progress or an established Senior Occupational Therapist seeking a new, rewarding role, you will be supported by a dedicated multidisciplinary team committed to providing high-quality, family-centred care. Key Duties and Responsibilities Complete comprehensive, child-centred occupational therapy assessments for children aged 9 years and older with a range of developmental, sensory, physical, and emotional needs. Formulate individualised, evidence-based intervention plans that support participation and independence in daily activities such as self-care, school-related tasks, and play. Deliver direct and indirect interventions using a combination of clinic-based sessions, school visits, home visits, and group programmes. Focus on developing functional skills, sensory processing, fine and gross motor abilities, handwriting, emotional regulation, and executive functioning. Support children with Autism, DCD, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, and other developmental or neurological conditions. Work collaboratively as part of a Primary Care multidisciplinary team, including Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, and Public Health Nurses. Liaise with families, teachers, SNAs, and other community professionals to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to each child's care. Provide education, training, and strategies to parents, teachers, and carers to support carryover of therapy goals in natural environments. Attend case conferences and contribute to Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) where required. Provide clinical supervision, mentoring, and guidance to Staff Grade OTs, students, and therapy assistants. Take a lead role in service planning and development initiatives aimed at improving access, quality, and outcomes for paediatric clients. Participate in or lead service audits, quality improvement projects, and clinical research activities. Contribute to the design and implementation of group therapy programmes and innovative service delivery models Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with HSE, CORU, and local policies. Ensure appropriate risk assessments and safeguarding procedures are in place for each client. Adhere to professional standards of practice, health and safety regulations, and data protection policies. Engage in regular clinical supervision and reflective practice to support professional development. Requirements Hold a recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy. Be registered with CORU as an Occupational Therapist (Essential). Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience, with significant paediatric clinical experience. Demonstrated expertise working with school-aged children (9+ years), including children with neurodevelopmental conditions. Proven ability to manage a complex caseload and deliver evidence-based interventions. Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Excellent understanding of sensory integration, developmental milestones, handwriting intervention, assistive technology, and functional skill development. Ability to work collaboratively with families, educators, and allied health professionals. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a child- and family-centred approach. Strong organisational and time-management abilities. Full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for community and school visits).
