Staff Grade Speech and Language Therapist Location: Regional Roles Organisation: National Council for Special Education (NCSE) Contract Type: Full-Time / Permanent Closing Date: 1st October 2025 at 3pm Role Overview: Orange Recruitment is seeking dedicated and skilled Staff Grade Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join NCSEs team supporting inclusive education across primary, post-primary, and special school settings.
This role involves delivering evidence-informed strategies and interventions that promote student participation, communication, and wellbeing in schools.
Key Responsibilities: Deliver teacher professional learning seminars regionally with Senior SLTs.
Design and implement inclusive education strategies and interventions.
Collaborate with Senior SLTs to develop interdisciplinary resources for schools and NCSE staff.
Engage in in-school collaboration with teachers, including coaching and mentoring.
Review and evaluate interventions using current SLT literature.
Maintain accurate clinical notes, outcomes, and service statistics.
Manage and maintain service equipment and identify equipment needs.
Work collaboratively with regional colleagues, HSE SLTs, NEPS psychologists, and other professionals.
Participate in clinical supervision and reflective practice with senior therapy staff.
Uphold professional standards in line with CORU and NCSE guidelines.
Support student therapists and contribute to staff training.
Provide support to parents/legal guardians as appropriate.
Promote participation and wellbeing at whole school, targeted, and intensive levels of support.
Develop evidence-informed resource materials for students and teachers in collaboration with school staff.
Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must, on or before 1st October 2025: Hold a qualification in Speech and Language Therapy approved by the Speech and Language Therapy Registration Board at CORU.
Be registered as a Speech and Language Therapist by the CORU Registration Board.
Desirable Criteria: Candidates should also: Have post-qualification experience working as a Staff Grade Speech and Language Therapist.
Be able to describe how SLT supports are delivered in schools as part of a multi-tiered model of support.
Have experience in delivering presentations.
Demonstrate high-level interpersonal skills and the ability to work within teams.
Be proficient in the use of relevant technology.
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Show personal commitment, integrity, reflective skills, and an ethical approach to work.
Have knowledge of the Irish educational system.
Be capable of liaising and collaborating with other professionals and disciplines.
Be able to write reports as required.
