Job Summary:
The
Senior Financial Accountant
role is responsible for supporting the Finance Department in ensuring accurate financial records, timely reconciliations, and efficient processing of transactions. In addition, this position will be responsible for implementation of the finance and front of house systems including Opera, Simphony, Sage Accounts upgrade and Fixed Asset system, initially for The Grace Hotel but also for the wider estate.
Key duties include daily sales and receipt reconciliations, managing accounts payable and receivable, preparing supplier payments, and maintaining accurate financial reporting. The position will lead the preparation of monthly management accounts, bank reconciliations, VAT returns, and supporting statutory reporting. It also leads the hotel budgeting processes, fixed asset register maintenance, and payroll backup.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the Finance function for the Grace Hotel and assist with the financial reporting for the wider Estate reporting to the Finance Manager and working closely with the General Managers.
* Engage in strategic initiatives focused on process improvement and efficiency.
* Ensuring all sales are recorded accurately and highlighting issues, preparing daily sales.
* Reconciliation of daily cash and credit card receipts highlighting any issues to relevant department.
* Accounts Payable - reconciliation of creditor statements, dealing with supplier queries and ensuring payments to suppliers are accurate and approved by the Finance Manager or Finance Director.
* Accounts Receivable - invoicing and aged debtors' periodic review to ensure payments received as per credit terms.
* Month end preparation e.g., accruals, suppliers accounts reconciled, bank reconciliations completed and monthly reconciliation of BS accounts.
* VAT return preparation and reconciliation.
* Maintenance of Fixed Asset Register.
* Prepare monthly management accounts, sales and overhead analyses, Key Performance Indicator and labour reviews, reports and PowerPoint presentations.
* Prepare statutory financial statements and taxation workings within agreed deadlines while following checklists, procedures, and processes.
* Lead the annual budget and monthly forecast process for the Grace Hotel in conjunction with the GM, FM & FD.
* Support the Finance Manager with day-to-day accounting operations.
* Backup for weekly and monthly payroll processing.
* Participate in cross-functional projects to support business initiatives and improve overall financial performance.

Required Experience & Skills
* Qualified/part qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA
* Minimum 3 years' experience in a finance or accounts assistant role producing month end reports, analysing against budgets and forecasting
* Strong knowledge of financial control processes and reconciliations.
* Advanced Excel skills and extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Word and PowerPoint.
* Experience of implementing systems changes.
* Proficiency in using financial systems, particularly Sage or similar accounting software.
* Experience managing end to end payroll processes.
* Ability to work accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and prior experience of presenting financial information to senior management.
* Excellent team player whilst having the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
* Eligibility to work in Ireland.
