Head of Projects and Engineering I am working with an exclusive client that specializes in the design, manufacture, and after-sales service support of isolator systems for micro-environments (aseptic) and containment of highly potent drug products.
The client is based in Cork and delivers worldwide to leading pharmaceutical companies.
This role is a pivotal part of their growth plans.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership/Strategy Lead Technical Design and Project Management Teams, empowering teams and individuals to excel.
Be a key member of the leadership team setting the company's strategic direction.
Contribute to developing a robust company team structure through people development, talent reviews, and performance management.
Liaise with the CEO, COO, and CFO to make informed business decisions, monitor, and report on them.
Ensure the mechanical and automation teams have an integrated approach to project design and technical solutions.
Promote a collaborative culture between design teams and other functions to ensure robust product design and adherence to project schedules.
Ensure projects meet applicable regulatory standards and directives.
Oversee the delivery of project documentation (e.g., drawings, validation documents, instruction manuals) with high accuracy and attention to detail.
Programme & Project Management Plan, schedule, and manage multiple high-value projects, often with long lead times.
Manage simultaneous projects with multiple stakeholders, priorities, and design requirements.
Monitor project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Track project KPIs and address deviations proactively.
Role Requirements: Strong skills in Project Management, Design, Risk Management, Planning, and Scheduling.
Experience or strong knowledge of Automation, Design, Mechanical Engineering, and Supply Chain.
Customer-focused with excellent relationship-building skills; this is a client-facing role with long and complex projects.
Motivated and enthusiastic leader with strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of leveraging team abilities.
Experience: At least 7 years' experience in a similar sector, emphasizing Project Management, Production Management, Planning & Scheduling within a team-based manufacturing or engineering environment.
Background in Capital Equipment / Machine Building is desirable.
Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Production Engineering or equivalent is desirable.
Project Management and/or Automation qualifications are desirable.
Experience in preparing business strategies and implementing action plans.
Proficient in PC use and knowledgeable of Inventory and ERP systems.
Competencies: Pragmatic, hands-on approach; willing to do the work.
Comfortable with technical, commercial, and people aspects of the role.
Self-aware of leadership style and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple internal teams.
Good judgment to know when to operate independently and when to seek guidance or approval.
