Construction Site Logistics Manager required on a permanent or contract basis to work for an international market-leading Construction Company based in Dublin. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking career progression or to join a leading construction firm.
The Construction Site Logistics Manager is responsible for all aspects of the logistics supply chain, stores management, and the development and optimization of site logistics solutions to meet project needs. The role involves managing the movement of people, goods, and equipment at the construction site, as well as overseeing site facilities management.
Site Logistics Manager Responsibilities
- Plan site setup to efficiently move labour, plant, and materials (e.g., hoarding, gates, site accommodation, cranes, hoists, security, temporary services, waste management, catering).
- Design internal and external logistics routes through project phases, focusing on separation of vehicles, machinery, and personnel. Establish lay down areas and offloading points.
- Pre-plan the use of key assets such as hoists to meet project schedules.
- Create a secure site environment.
- Manage all traffic internally and externally, including weighbridges and road network cleanliness.
- Oversee the installation and management of site accommodation and facilities.
- Develop operational procedures and method statements.
- Organize site inductions and securely store induction records.
- Schedule logistics meetings and ensure logistics are represented at site meetings.
- Select and implement delivery management processes and systems.
- Provide logistics instructions to all project suppliers.
- Manage all site movements, maintaining relevant records.
- Enforce the use of the organization's delivery management system.
- Maximize load capacity on all arriving vehicles, ensuring suppliers use appropriate vehicles.
- Verify that drivers and vehicles meet required standards before acceptance.
- Specify and manage plant and equipment.
- Maintain an asset register of all equipment.
- Ensure safe operation of vehicles and plant by trained personnel in compliance with legal standards.
- Ensure all equipment is inspected, maintained, and tested regularly.
- Have knowledge of hoists and cranes, and create a booking system to manage their capacity.
Necessary Requirements
- Desirable: 3rd level qualification in engineering or a construction-related field.
- Experience in a similar role or site experience preferred.
- First aid training is required.
- Proven leadership skills and experience managing diverse, interdisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of all phases of construction operations, technologies, and site management.
- Experience managing large teams, including craft workers.
- Practical knowledge of scope definition, resource-loaded schedules, progress and performance metrics, earned value management.
- Track record of delivering major construction programs.
- Technical familiarity throughout the project lifecycle.
