Why we're hiring
Stuvia has been the marketplace for study materials since 2011. Over a million students worldwide use us every month to buy and sell study notes. We're a team of ~20 people serving students in 180+ countries, selling over a million documents annually. We're profitable, bootstrapped, and have been growing for 15 years.
Now we're at an inflection point. AI is changing how students study, and we need to evolve fast. We're not just maintaining what we have, we're building what comes next: AI-powered study tools, flashcard generators, and features that make Stuvia essential in the AI era.
We need someone to help us execute on this.
The role
You'll be the right hand to founder Jaap, turning big ideas into shipped features. We're running two parallel tracks: Rails (maintaining and improving our current platform) and Stuvia Lab (building the future).
Your job is execution. You'll work with a distributed team including developers in Amsterdam and Bangalore, a designer, and a data analyst. Everything happens in-house, lines are short, and you're expected to move fast.
We're a commercially-driven marketplace. We make pragmatic decisions based on business impact and real data, not theoretical perfection. We ship when features work well and iterate based on what we learn.
What you'll actually do:
* Work with founder Jaap to shape product ideas into concrete specs and get them built
* Manage and prioritize the product backlog so the team always knows what's next
* Run weekly refinements with developers and designers to align on what we're building
* Set up experiments, analyze results, and execute on what the data tells us
You're the bridge between founders with vision and a team that builds. You break big projects into manageable pieces, remove blockers, and make sure what launches matches what we envisioned.
What we're looking for
* Structured flexibility. You create clarity in execution while staying flexible when priorities shift.
* A doer, not a talker. You ship things, not just talk about them.
* Excellent English. You'll work daily with a geographically distributed team.
* Product management experience. You've shipped features, managed backlogs, worked with developers.
* Commercial thinking. You understand that business impact drives decisions. You're comfortable making trade-offs.
* Tech affinity. You don't need to code, but you understand how things work.
If you need every feature pixel-perfect before launch, or get frustrated when plans change based on data, this probably isn't the right fit.
What we offer
* €3,750 - €4,750/month (based on 40h/week)
* Work remote from anywhere (reasonable overlap with European hours), or from our Amsterdam office
* MacBook, noise cancelling headphones, gym membership
* 25 vacation days (based on 40h/week), pension (NL only)
* Direct access to founders, no corporate bureaucracy
* A real challenge: helping a 15-year-old profitable tech company navigate its next chapter
