This is a remote position open to candidates in Germany, Sweden, Spain, Ireland, and the UK.The OpportunityWe are seeking a leader to curate and drive our Corporate Engineering team. You will optimize the current IT operations stack and drive our internal AI native strategy. You will push decision-making to the right information, build processes and systems to enable teams to experiment and own their tools, embody DevOps principles, and reduce long lead times. Shadow IT is viewed as a signal of gaps to address.You will lead a team that manages operation and security of traditional corporate IT systems, help desk queues, and employee hardware, and provide tools and platforms for other teams. Your team will be responsible for the operational and security strategy for internal AI usage, agent workloads, and automation at Grafana. You will guide and develop internal platforms that automate IT work and enable employees to do their best work. Significant engineering acumen is required for this technology-driven role.This is a high-impact opportunity to define IT and corporate systems in the AI age at a technical, everything-as-code company. You will have a fully staffed team and substantial autonomy.What You’ll Be DoingLead the team covering corporate systems, employee device lifecycles, helpdesk queues, and internal tooling development.Deploy security and compliance checks in workflows to enable employees (guardrails and paved roads).Define the internal AI rollout, enablement, and security strategy across all teams, not just developers.Manage relationships, negotiations, and contracting with core SaaS vendors.Make work and costs visible to the team and stakeholder teams, and use visibility to continuously improve processes.Leverage the Grafana product and ecosystem to solve corporate engineering challenges; open-source solutions for the Grafana community where appropriate.Act as a leader within the Foundations department and collaborate with other platform, business application, and security teams.Conduct regular 1:1s, coaching, mentoring, and provide continuous feedback to maintain high standards and engagement.Participate in team activities, contribute to and review design documents, and participate in on-call rotations.What Makes You a Great FitExperience running a software engineering operations team with strong technical engagement and the ability to drive technical decisions. Proficiency with at least one cloud provider and Kubernetes.Hands-on experience managing and automating corporate IT systems across OSes (Windows, MacOS, Linux, iOS, Android), SSO (Okta, 1Password), productivity tools (Google Workspace, Office), MDM (Jamf, Intune, FleetDM, Kolide), EDR, DLP, and typical corporate SaaS and AI providers.DevOps mindset toward IT and security, focusing on enablement, automation, and guardrails rather than gatekeeping. Ability to provide internal platforms as a service rather than a ticketing function.Knowledge of current AI state-of-the-art and strategies to leverage it safely and effectively across the enterprise to enable experimentation.Curiosity about software, security, and technology trends; ability to keep teams ahead of the curve.Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable guiding autonomous engineering teams and influencing decisions.Willingness to work aligned with Eastern-time hours to maximize overlap with EMEA peers.Bonus PointsTechnical background in programming or software engineering; Go, multiple clouds, and Kubernetes expertise are advantageous.Experience securing AI tooling for a range of users (non-development, code, agentic automation).Plans for securing AI initiatives; working knowledge of Grafana OSS projects and observability tooling to solve IT or security problems; experience with OSS communities.Open-source involvement and collaboration experience.Compensation and Benefits In Ireland, base compensation ranges EU 133,000 – EU 167,000. Actual compensation varies by level, experience, and interview assessment. All roles include RSUs.
