This position is ideal for an experienced QS who enjoys the full project lifecycle from pre-construction through to final accounts and who thrives in fast-paced, technically demanding environments. You'll be joining a well-established business with an excellent reputation for quality, safety, and innovation across multiple sectors including pharma, data centres, and healthcare.
Responsibilities for Project Quantity Surveyor
1. Lead the commercial delivery of assigned contracts, from initial tender stage through to project completion and final account settlement.
2. Manage cost planning, BOQs, budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting in collaboration with project and commercial management teams.
3. Build strong working relationships with clients and internal stakeholders, leading regular commercial meetings and ensuring alignment across all parties.
4. Oversee subcontractor accounts including valuations, payments, and final accounts-ensuring terms are adhered to and value is maximised.
5. Prepare and submit detailed interim and final account applications, including remeasures, variations, dayworks, and claims.
6. Identify, assess, and communicate commercial risks or exposures to senior management and advise on appropriate mitigation strategies.
7. Liaise closely with Planning Engineers to understand programme impacts and ensure commercial alignment with project progress.
8. Manage change orders and variations efficiently-costing, documenting, and agreeing works on a daily basis.
9. Maintain full audit trails and backup documentation to support all commercial submissions.
10. Actively mentor junior staff, sharing knowledge and contributing to a high-performing, collaborative team culture.
11. Ensure adherence to all contract requirements, quality procedures, and ISO standards.
12. Promote best practice in commercial governance and set high standards in professionalism and accuracy.
Requirements for Project Quantity Surveyor
13. Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related field.
14. Minimum 5 years' experience working with an electrical contractor, ideally on large-scale or technically complex projects.
15. In-depth understanding of contract law, tendering, and commercial reporting.
16. Strong negotiation and communication skills, with proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
17. Excellent attention to detail and a methodical, organised approach to managing commercial responsibilities.
18. Full driving licence and flexibility to travel to project sites as needed.
19. Eligible to work full-time in Ireland.
