Job Description:
Quantity Surveyor
We are working with an independent project and cost management consultancy based in Galway, who are expanding their team and seeking an intermediate quantity surveyor to join them at their headquarters.
About the Role:
* Analyse blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials and labour costs versus estimates.
* Perform all quantity surveying duties including measurements, valuation and agreement of work sections.
* Experience in project management and proficient in estimating packages, Microsoft Excel and Word.
* Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction managers/supervisors to discuss cost.
* Monitor cost from vendors or subcontractors, explore variances, manage issues in conjunction with manager, deal with cost overseas and recovery.
* Report on actual costs and examine estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organising and scheduling work.
* Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.
* Assess the cost-effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
* Set up a cost monitoring and reporting system and procedures.
* Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data to be effective in reducing costs.
Requirements:
* Degree qualified in construction economics or quantity surveying.
* Minimum 3+ years PQS experience.
* Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
* Competent in all forms of estimating packages, Microsoft Excel and Word.
