Location: Dublin Business Unit: Power Infrastructure / Substations A leading organisation in the high-voltage and substation engineering sector is seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to join its Electrical Substation Team.
This role involves overseeing the planning and execution of commissioning activities for substation equipment—particularly protection systems—to ensure that new network infrastructure is energised safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with industry standards.
This is a hybrid role combining on-site responsibilities with office-based coordination.
What We Offer Competitive salary 23 days of annual leave Maternity Benefit Flexible working options Sick pay after probation Career Pathway Programme with strong development focus Clear opportunities for progression within a growing organisation Voluntary pension scheme (post-probation) Access to 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) Health insurance discount Life assurance cover Industry-standard training Key Responsibilities Lead and manage a team of HV commissioners delivering projects on the Irish transmission and distribution network Serve as the technical point of escalation for commissioning-related queries Build and develop the commissioning department to support project pipelines in key regions Collaborate with senior leadership to expand business capabilities in strategic areas Identify training needs and arrange external courses or deliver in-house training Lead and mentor new team members until fully competent Cooperate with Health Safety teams to maintain and update HV Safety Rules in line with regulations Define scopes of work for team members and oversee execution Monitor delivery progress and ensure timely achievement of project milestones Manage commissioning schedules, deadlines, and documentation workflows Coordinate and plan vendor FAT/SAT activities, including attendance when required Communicate effectively with all electrical stakeholders and project partners Participate in internal, vendor, and client project meetings Prepare, review and obtain approval for commissioning documents (Test Protocols, Compliance Statements, etc.) Ensure full compliance and sign-off of commissioning documentation Qualifications Skills Required 5–10 years of HV substation commissioning experience Approved ESB Commissioner Strong understanding of Irish grid codes and HV safety regulations Valid, clean driving licence Excellent project management and stakeholder coordination skills Proficiency in MS Office Suite and MS Project Personal Skills Strong leadership and team development capability Goal-oriented mindset Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to manage complex technical workflows in a high-stakes environment Wymagania Oczekujemy Oferujemy
