Job Title: Health & Safety Manager

Objectives of Position
Implement and support the Health and Safety Management system in the plant, ensuring all operations comply with Irish and EU legislative requirements.
Responsibilities
Co‑ordinate H&S activities in the facility to ensure continued compliance with the health and safety management system.
Work closely with the Management Team to set H&S objectives and targets, reviewing policies and safety statements and recommending revisions as appropriate.
Manage the risk assessment review process and support team leaders to develop improvement programs to reduce risks; conduct accident investigations and recommend appropriate actions.
Monitor adherence to the stated policy through Safety Audits and inspections, improving overall safety system quality.
Develop accident reduction and prevention programmes, ensuring compliance with the continuous improvement element of the H&S policy.
Design, plan, conduct and/or co‑ordinate appropriate Health and Safety training programmes in line with the existing training function.
Guide the implementation of safety policy through awareness and the use of good management safety practices.
Monitor H&S performance and provide feedback to Management and the Safety Committee through regular meetings.
Contribute to the H&S portion of the Aspect & Impact Register, ensuring compliance with in‑house, corporate and legislative procedures.
Contribute to the site Emergency Response procedure and organize emergency evacuation drills.
Work with the HR Team to develop innovative methods to reduce legal claims and insurance costs, and prepare necessary documentation for claim defence.
Work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering Team to ensure new design and line changes comply with H&S requirements.
Prepare and present end‑of‑quarter results to the Management Team.
Serve as Safety Committee chairperson and guide the group’s actions.
Collaborate with the training department to ensure compliance of safety training conducted within the plant.
Co‑ordinate corporate H&S requirements, reporting structures and policies.
Liaise with operational management regarding SOPs to cover all safety requirements.
Support and advise all departments, including Production, Facilities and Engineering, on the Management of Change within Sanmina.
Manage the use of chemicals on site.
Ensure ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements.
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety Legislation and Regulations.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum NQF Level 7 Diploma/Degree in Health and Safety or a related qualification.
5+ years of experience in a Health and Safety role.
Capable of developing the health and safety role within the existing management structure and driving change processes.
Desirable
Experience with ISO or OHSAS standards and H&S legislation.
Environmental or Sustainability management experience.
Core Competencies
Strong interpersonal communication with internal and external stakeholder groups.
Previous management experience.
