Position Overview
We are searching for a QC Technical Expert – Microbiology to join our team in Cork.
In this role, you will apply strong technical expertise in microbiological and analytical techniques to support quality control activities across the product lifecycle.
You will provide technical leadership across microbiological testing and related laboratory technologies, supporting equipment qualification, method transfer, testing coordination, and continuous improvement within the QC function.
Responsibilities
Support qualification of microbiological and analytical equipment and related testing activities (e.g., endotoxin, cell culture, TOC, spectrophotometry and related methods)
Coordinate sampling and testing during plant and laboratory utility qualification
Plan and support analytical method transfers for new molecular entities
Coordinate analytical testing and sampling for raw materials, utilities, in-process, bulk and finished products
Support and deliver analyst training programs within microbiology and QC
Support day-to-day laboratory operations in collaboration with team leaders
Review and approve data, laboratory investigations, deviations, CAPA and change controls
Lead or support projects such as method transfers and equipment qualification
Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives in laboratory processes
Provide subject-matter expertise in microbiological and analytical technologies and support troubleshooting activities
Support lean initiatives within laboratory operations, including test execution, documentation and equipment lifecycle
Clearly present microbiological and analytical data to internal stakeholders and regulatory inspectors
Stay current with microbiology practices, analytical technologies and compliance trends
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or a related scientific field
4–6 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical industry or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong technical knowledge of microbiological and QC analytical testing methods and laboratory equipment
Knowledge of cGMP regulations and FDA/EU guidance
Experience with Quality Control systems, documentation and regulatory inspections
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams
Clear communication skills, with the ability to present technical information concisely and practically
Ability to adapt, manage change and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
A proactive and structured approach to work, with a focus on quality and compliance
Demonstrates an understanding of AI concepts and frameworks, including awareness of responsible and ethical AI practices, and uses effective prompting techniques to support efficiency and productivity
