Location: The Boot Factory, Mullan Village, Monaghan
Job Type: Full-Time
Overview:
We're looking for a creative and motivated Chef to lead the kitchen at our all-day brunch café, which also serves as a gathering place for events and a daily dining spot for employees of our on-site manufacturing company. This is a unique opportunity to craft approachable yet exciting meals in a dynamic setting that combines community, corporate, and culinary energy.
This is an exciting new adventure which will initially launch to cater for Mullan Lighting employees Monday to Friday, then broadening its hours to include daytime weekends and ad hoc events. The max dining capacity for the venue is 120 people.
Key Responsibilities:
Menu Development & Service
* Develop and execute a fresh, seasonal brunch menu with options that cater to both the public and our in-house employees.
* Offer high-quality, nutritious, and satisfying meals that appeal to a range of tastes—think comfort food with a twist.
* Plan and prepare rotating lunch specials tailored for employees working regular shifts.
Event & Catering Collaboration
* Create custom menus for events hosted in the café space—ranging from private celebrations to company functions.
* Coordinate food preparation and execution for both on-site and occasional off-site events.
Kitchen & Team Leadership
* Manage all aspects of the kitchen, including prep, line operations, inventory, cleanliness, and staff supervision.
* Hire, train, and schedule kitchen staff as needed.
* Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards.
Business Integration
* Work closely with café and company leadership to align offerings with staff needs and café goals.
* Balance café operations between regular brunch service, staff meals, and special events.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a chef, ideally in a brunch café or high-volume kitchen.
* Experience creating diverse menus for different audiences (public guests + employee base).
* Knowledge of food costing, kitchen budgeting, and supplier management.
* Strong leadership, communication, and multitasking skills.
* Food Safety Certification (or willingness to obtain).
Why Join Us?
* A chance to build a menu and kitchen culture from the ground up.
* A steady customer base from our manufacturing staff, plus community guests and event clients.
* Supportive team environment with room for creativity and career growth.
* Competitive pay, employee meals, and a consistent schedule.
