Job Title: Senior Occupational Therapist (Acute Hospital)
Location: Limerick
Contract: Part-Time, 0.5 WTE (17.5 hours per week), 6–12 month contract (with potential extension)
Salary: HSE Salary Scale (aligned with experience)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, experienced Occupational Therapist to join one of Ireland’s leading University Hospitals. We are looking for a professional with leadership skills and a passion to be part of a busy Occupational Therapy team on a part time basis. Excel Recruitment are recruiting a passionate and motivated Senior Occupational Therapist to join a busy Occupational Therapy team within a Hospital in Limerick. This is an exciting opportunity to work part-time (0.5 WTE) in a busy, fast-paced acute hospital environment where you will make a meaningful impact every day.
Role and Areas of Focus
As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will play a key role in assessing, treating, and supporting patients across a wide variety of acute clinical areas, including:
* Acute Medical & Surgical Wards
* Care of the Elderly
* Acute Rehabilitation Services
This position offers exposure to diverse caseloads, strong interdisciplinary collaboration, and excellent opportunities for professional development.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality patient care within an acute hospital setting.
* Carry out expert assessment, treatment planning, and intervention across a range of acute specialties.
* Lead on discharge planning, ensuring safe and effective transitions of care.
* Supervise and mentor junior Occupational Therapists and students.
* Contribute to service development initiatives and quality improvement projects.
* Educate patients and families regarding therapy goals and progress.
* Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with hospital standards.
* Engage in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
Requirements
* CORU Registration as an Occupational Therapist (Essential).
* Minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience, including at least 1 year in an acute hospital setting.
* Strong clinical skills in medical, surgical, orthopaedics, or rehabilitation.
* Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Leadership or supervisory experience is desirable.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
