Bon Secours Hospital Limerick is inviting applications for the position of IT Support Engineer. We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused IT Support Engineer to join our IT team within a fast-paced, dynamic private healthcare environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the seamless operation of IT systems and support services across clinical and administrative departments. This role will also oversee the procurement and lifecycle management of IT equipment, ensuring alignment with the organisation's clinical needs, compliance requirements, and technology standards. Bon Secours Health System is developing a new 150 bed medical facility in Ballysimon to the east of Limerick City. Building works are nearing completion with a plan to open this new state-of-the-art hospital in 2025. This commitment will see the expansion of surgical specialties currently delivered by Bon Secours Hospital Limerick at Barringtons, plus the addition of cardiology, MAU and other medical services. Post: Full-time permanent position. Hours of work: 35 hours per week. flexibility around working days and times is an inherent part of this role. Remuneration: Dependent on relevant experience. Essential Eligibility Criteria: Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+/Network+, Microsoft MCSA/MD-102, ITIL Foundation) 3+ years of experience in an IT helpdesk or desktop support role, preferably in a healthcare setting. Strong knowledge of Windows OS, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and networking fundamentals. Involvement in IT projects, including technology refreshes, system migrations, or service improvement initiatives. Experience providing support for Citrix platforms (e.g., XenApp, XenDesktop) and IP phone systems (e.g. Avaya, or equivalent). Experience managing the procurement of IT equipment, including hardware selection, vendor management, and budget coordination. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to technical and non-technical audiences. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively. Proficiency in service management tools and platforms (e.g., ServiceNow). Ability to manage competing priorities in a clinical environment where uptime and patient safety are critical. Role Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provide advanced Level 1 and 2 technical supports for end users, both onsite and remotely. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues across clinical and administrative departments. Support a range of healthcare-specific applications (e.g., EHR systems, pharmacy and lab systems). Provide technical support and maintenance for Citrix environments, including application publishing, user access issues, and session troubleshooting. Maintain and manage IT assets, including IP phone systems, imaging and deploying desktops, thin clients, laptops, printers, and mobile devices. Lead the procurement process for IT equipment and software, including vendor liaison, evaluating quotations, ensuring compatibility with clinical systems, and aligning purchases with organisational budgets and standards. Manage inventory and lifecycle tracking of IT hardware, ensuring timely replacements and upgrades in line with compliance and performance standards. Ensure timely escalation of unresolved issues to specialist teams or external vendors. Collaborate with the IT Business Services Manager to implement IT policies, cybersecurity protocols, and ensure GDPR compliance. Assist in IT audits and documentation, ensuring systems are fully compliant with healthcare regulations. Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours support as necessary. Role will be based in Limerick, however, travel to other sites may be necessary, with onsite support being required at times. Plan and contribute to IT infrastructure upgrades, deployment projects, and new technology rollouts across clinical and non-clinical areas.
