Overview:
The role of a Senior Radiographer RIS/PACS is to provide technical support for RIS/PACS systems, ensuring efficient image capture, storage, and retrieval. The incumbent will act as system administrator for RIS/PACS, including maintenance, upgrades, and user access.
Key Responsibilities:
* Technical Support: Provide expert technical support for RIS/PACS systems, ensuring seamless operation and optimal performance.
* System Administration: Act as system administrator for RIS/PACS, overseeing maintenance, upgrades, and user access to ensure efficient system operation.
* Contingency Planning: Develop and implement contingency plans for system downtime, minimizing disruption to services.
* Liaison with IT and Vendors: Liaise with IT and vendors to resolve technical issues and ensure compliance with Data Protection and GDPR requirements.
Operational Requirements:
* Examination Scheduling: Manage the daily examination schedule, balancing routine appointments with urgent in-patient and out-patient cases.
* Equipment Maintenance: Ensure safe and efficient operation of diagnostic imaging equipment and associated ancillary devices.
* Referral Management: Accept and justify routine diagnostic imaging referrals in accordance with established protocols.
* Quality Assurance: Monitor and report equipment faults promptly and appropriately.
Safety & Compliance:
* Radiation Safety: Take responsibility for all aspects of radiation safety within the department, ensuring strict adherence to radiation safety procedures for the protection of patients, staff, and visitors.
* Quality Assurance Testing: Undertake Quality Assurance testing of imaging modalities in line with agreed QA policies.
* Infection Control: Maintain infection control standards, including cleaning of scanners, rooms, beds, and controlled areas as per policy.
Communication & Collaboration:
* Clinical Communication: Promote clear, consistent communication between Radiology and other hospital departments to support streamlined clinical processes.
* Liaison with Other Departments: Liaise regularly with other departments to facilitate effective collaboration and achieve KPI targets.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Qualifications: BSc in Diagnostic Radiography, CORU registration, and postgraduate qualification in RIS/PACS management (preferred).
* Experience: Minimum 6 years post-graduate clinical experience, with expertise in radiology IT systems and technical troubleshooting.
