Accredited Counsellor/Therapists are required for the HSE Counselling Primary Care (CIPC) service in Midlands – Laois, Offaly, Westmeath and Longford CHO 8. The provision of short term counselling in primary care settings to medical card holders aged 18 years and over by accredited, professionally qualified Counsellor/Therapists and Psychologists under the governance of the HSE National Counselling Service.
CIPC offers an opportunity to provide trauma-informed counselling contracts to clients of the National Counselling Service for adult survivors of childhood trauma, depending on relevant clinical experience. Successful applicants may also participate in this initiative.
Qualifications and Professional Experience
* A recognised Level 7 qualification (QQI) in a relevant human science discipline or equivalent in a health and social care profession or health related profession is required.
* In addition to the above qualification:
o (a) Hold a degree or post-graduate qualification in counselling, or psychotherapy recognised by one of the following: the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), a relevant body within the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP) or the Irish Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (IABCP).
o (b) Have full accredited membership with one of the following: IACP, IABCP or a relevant body within ICP.
o (c) Hold a post-graduate qualification in counselling psychology or clinical psychology recognised by the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI).
o (d) Have commenced the registration process with the PSI or be fully registered with the clinical or counselling psychology division of PSI.
* At least two years of relevant post-qualification experience are required.
