The Access and Plant Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, servicing, maintenance, and repair of powered access equipment and plant machinery to ensure all equipment is safe, reliable, and compliant with industry standards.
The role involves diagnosing faults, performing preventative maintenance, and preparing machines for hire while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Repair Service, repair, and maintain powered access equipment including: Scissor lifts Boom lifts Telehandlers Mini diggers Dumpers Other plant machinery Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine faults.
Carry out preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing.
Workshop & Field Work Perform repairs in the workshop and occasionally on-site at customer locations.
Prepare equipment for hire ensuring machines are fully operational and presentable.
Carry out breakdown diagnostics and emergency repairs when required.
Documentation Complete service reports, inspection sheets, and maintenance records.
Maintain accurate records of parts used and work completed.
Health & Safety Follow all company safety procedures and industry regulations.
Maintain a clean and organised workshop.
Use appropriate PPE at all times.
Required Skills & Experience Essential Experience servicing or repairing plant machinery or access equipment.
Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrics.
Ability to diagnose and repair faults efficiently.
Good understanding of health and safety practices.
Full clean driving licence.
