17 Months Specific purpose/part-time post The Office of Research & Innovation is now seeking a dynamic candidate for the key position of (Senior Research Manager) - Business Development Manager, to ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day operations of the Office of Research & Innovation, to manage and ensure full implementation of the Office of Research & Innovation policies and procedures, and to engage effectively with our key stakeholders and funders. The Senior Research Coordinator is a key position within the Office of Research & Innovation to ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day operations of the unit (recruitment and HR, labs, infrastructure and equipment), to manage and ensure full implementation of the Office of Research & Innovation policies and procedures, and to engage effectively with key stakeholders and funders. The Senior Research Coordinator will work closely with the Office of Research & Innovation executive and management teams to contribute operational expertise in the development and implementation of organisational strategies, policies, practices, projects, delivery of KPIs, reporting and the development of funding proposals. As a member of the Management Team, the Senior Research Coordinator will be expected to contribute to the development and implementation of Office of Research & Innovation strategy and to contribute to business development. The Senior Research Coordinator will also play a key role in the implementation of Office of Research & Innovation reporting schedule in line with its research & innovation programme, ensuring that the scope and timelines of all research projects are on schedule, and that Office of Research & Innovation complies fully with mandatory reporting requirements. The Senior Research Manager may be asked to support other aspects of the Office of Research & Innovation work when relevant and the appointee will be expected to have a flexible approach in this regard. The ideal candidate will be proactive, enthusiastic, very organised and capable of managing a heavy and diverse workload. She/He will be able to work under pressure and be able to effectively manage many competing demands simultaneously. At UCC collaboration between academia and industry plays an essential role in accelerating innovation, translating research outputs into real-world solutions and opening new funding channels for ambitious projects delivering on both the strategic aims of UCC as well as government policies. We are recruiting an experienced Business Development Manager, Research to support the development of research collaborations between UCC and industry partners. This role will drive operational delivery of UCC's Research and Innovation goals in the UCC strategic plan by securing new research collaborations with industry, as part of wider industry partnerships, enabling UCC to maximize its expertise, impact and research income generation, and strengthen UCC's position as a leader in industry research collaborations. Reporting to the Director of Business Engagement and Consultancy in UCC Innovation, with a dotted reporting line to the Director of Research Support Services, in UCC Research, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the establishment of UCC's new Business Engagement Unit, as outlined in Action 1.5 of the Strategic Plan, and will maintain focus on long-term strategic priorities and ensure shorter-term operating plans, targets and industry collaboration models are well aligned with these directions. The role holder will work closely with colleagues in UCC Research, UCC Innovation and collaborate with colleagues in the four main Colleges at UCC, UCC Futures groups and the Research Centres based throughout UCC. The ideal candidate will be a good communicator, have the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team, be proactive, enthusiastic, organised and capable of managing a diverse workload and portfolio of projects. She/He will be able to work under pressure and be able to effectively manage many competing demands simultaneously.
