The Role:Provide expert SSoW input to the development of Irish Rail's national geofencing framework.Apply Network Rail safe system principles and standards to inform policies, procedures, and governance.Support Irish Rail in adapting UK best practice to the Irish operating and regulatory environment.Review and assure geofencing processes, operating models, and guidance documentation.Participate in technical working groups, workshops, and stakeholder reviews.Identify risks, gaps, and opportunities in the rollout approach and recommend practical mitigations.Act as a Geofencing Champion within Irish Rail offices and on site.Support the practical implementation and rollout of geofencing on live worksites.Apply Network Rail Engineering Supervisor standards and behaviours to ensure geofencing enhances, rather than replaces, established worksite controls.Work directly with engineering teams, supervisors, and managers to promote correct and consistent use of geofencing.Support site trials, feedback loops, and continuous improvement activities.Identify operational, behavioural, and supervision challenges and feed lessons learned into the national framework.Assist with briefings, demonstrations, and on-site support to build confidence and competence in geofencing systems.Essential Experience:Network Rail–competent Safe System of Work Planner (current or previously held).Strong working knowledge of Network Rail SSoW standards and railway safety principles.Experience in framework development, assurance, or standards implementation.Ability to operate in a strategic, advisory capacity rather than delivery planning.Geofencing or digital safety system experience desirable, but not essential.Network Rail–competent Engineering Supervisor (ES) (current or previously held).Strong experience in on-site railway supervision and worksite control.Confidence working directly with frontline staff, managers, and stakeholders.Ability to champion change and support the adoption of new safety technology.Geofencing or digital safety system experience desirable, but not essential.Contract Details:Day-rate contractor roleFlexible working with travel across Ireland as requiredOpportunity to contribute to a high-profile, national safety programmeWhy Apply:Influence the future of rail safety in IrelandApply UK Network Rail expertise at a national framework levelBe part of a landmark programme introducing geofencing as a core safety controlMove away from shift-based planning into a strategic role
