THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – lead change, mentor engineers, and manage full Mechanical Design on projects of all sizes.
Demonstrate strong understanding of the discipline and awareness of other company disciplines, while delivering best-in-class engineering.
Lead and manage full Mechanical Design on projects of all sizes with a focus on client care.
Provide quality control for mechanical engineering projects across offices.
Project cost control.
Manage project teams and cross-functional teams within the organisation.
Travel to client and project locations as required to represent EDC for meetings, surveys, training, etc.
Liaise and collaborate with other EDC offices as appropriate.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum degree level in Mechanical Engineering.
6+ years building services consultancy design experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Experience with thermal modelling, energy assessment; dynamic energy modelling software is advantageous.
Commercial sector knowledge and BIM experience are strong advantages.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Proven experience delivering detailed designs through the full design cycle.
Expert knowledge in Mechanical design areas: Water Services, Heating/LTHW, HVAC, Fuel, above-ground drainage, and BMS.
Strong knowledge of Irish building regulations (particularly TGD parts B, F, G, L) and ability to apply this in design and project leadership.
Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise and plan effectively.
Ability to lead projects internally and externally, ensuring client satisfaction, profitability, and maintaining EDC's reputation.
Good understanding of other building disciplines in design and installation of buildings.
Demonstrated leadership within a team.
Prompt, disciplined project decision-making.
Excellent attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
