The Great National South Court Hotel has an exciting opportunity for a Deputy General Manager to join our exceptional and expanding team, helping to lead the daily operations of the hotel at senior level.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will oversee the key operational functions of the hotel and work closely with our Heads of Department to ensure the smooth running of their areas, exceptional customer service, and the highest standards of excellence throughout. This role requires strong leadership, clear communication, and the ability to inspire and manage diverse teams effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

* Conduct daily inspections to ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and customer care standards.
* Be familiar with all hotel services and support departments as needed.
* Ensure operational responsibility for service delivery and standards throughout the hotel when on duty.
* Maintain presence in key areas during peak times and ensure all areas are well-maintained.
* Ensure room occupancy and configuration meet business needs.
* Complete projects within required timeframes as directed by the General Manager.
* Implement a comprehensive handover system for effective communication.
* Negotiate maintenance contracts with the General Manager and Maintenance Manager.
* Ensure appropriate Duty Management coverage and train managers on all hotel procedures.
* Carry out Duty Management shifts as required.

Customer Service:

* Ensure every guest receives a warm, professional, and memorable welcome.
* Lead by example in achieving customer service goals, mystery audits, and quality evaluations.
* Implement systems to resolve guest queries quickly and efficiently.
* Empower and train your team to make decisions that enhance the guest experience.

Standards:

* Oversee departmental operations, maintaining GN Hotel standards at all times.
* Keep SOP manuals up to date and ensure all staff are trained on procedures.
* Maintain exceptional standards of hygiene, appearance, and conduct.

Training:

* Oversee departmental training, ensuring alignment with hotel standards.
* Conduct regular reviews of training needs with departmental managers and develop training plans.
* Record all training activities as per agreed procedures.
* Attend and facilitate employee training sessions.
* Identify potential employees for promotion and assist in their development.

Flexibility:

* Adapt to a flexible work schedule to ensure uninterrupted service to hotel guests.
* Support all hotel areas as needed.
* Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, investigate and report incidents, and maintain readiness for audits.
* Conduct fire evacuation drills and ensure employees are trained in emergency procedures.
* Maintain security and report defective materials and equipment for timely repair.
* Chair monthly Health & Safety meetings.
* Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager on a Preventative Maintenance Log.

People Management:

* Appraise managers regularly and ensure departmental employee appraisals are conducted.
* Assist in recruiting and selecting departmental management and staff.
* Ensure adherence to disciplinary and grievance procedures.
* Foster a positive working environment and resolve departmental problems promptly.
* Promote a culture of innovation and idea implementation.

Communication:

* Ensure clear, consistent communication between management, teams, and the General Manager.
* Oversee departmental meetings and ensure effective follow-up on actions.

Sales and Costs:

* Assist in preparing and managing annual budgets.
* Monitor and control costs while identifying revenue opportunities.
* Maintain optimal staffing levels and wage controls.

The ideal candidate:

* 2-3 years of experience in a Deputy, Operations or Senior Manager role within a large hotel.
* 5+ years in Hospitality.
* Experience in people leadership and motivation.
* Strong commercial awareness and experience in managing KPIs, targets, costs and revenues.
* Proven ability to develop and nurture talented employees.
* Strong communication skills, with comfort in contributing to the overall hotel strategy.
* Ability to develop and build relationships and influence at all levels of the organisation.
