Key Responsibilities:
Review tender documentation, drawings and specifications to ensure all necessary information is available for accurate estimations.
Prepare detailed cost estimates for labour, materials, plant and subcontractor elements, taking into account any potential risks or challenges.
Prepare and submit tender documentation within tight deadlines, ensuring all requirements are met and the client's needs are understood.
Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure competitive pricing and optimal value for money.
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure a collaborative and efficient working environment.
Liaise with the Commercial Manager, Contracts Manager and project teams to ensure consistency of cost information and effective communication.
Attend pre- and post-tender meetings with clients, consultants and design teams to discuss project requirements and provide updates on progress.
Provide input into value engineering and alternative construction methods to ensure the most cost-effective solutions are implemented.
Prepare detailed handover documentation once tenders are secured, ensuring all necessary information is included.
Support project teams during early project stages with cost advice and procurement strategy, providing expertise and guidance as needed.
Requirements
* Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline.
* Minimum 5 years experience as an Estimator in the construction industry (commercial project experience desirable).
* Strong knowledge of Irish construction methods, materials and building regulations.
* Proficiency in estimating software (e.g. Buildsoft, Cubit, Causeway) and Microsoft Excel/COINS.
* Excellent numerical and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
* Strong communication, negotiation and organisational abilities.
* Ability to meet tight deadlines and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
