We are currently recruiting a Staff Nurse – CTVS ICU for a hospital based in Dublin, Ireland.
Responsibilities Provide direct, high-quality nursing care to assigned patients, including taking nursing histories, assessing needs, documenting care, and evaluating patient responses.
Develop and implement individualised care plans, reassessing and revising interventions as needed while ensuring family involvement where appropriate.
Monitor, record, and report patient conditions, including symptoms and changes in status, and promptly escalate concerns to the appropriate medical or nursing staff.
Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies, maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques.
Perform admission, discharge, and transfer procedures, supporting patients with daily activities and adhering to confidentiality requirements at all times.
Ensure care delivery aligns with NMBI Professional Scope of Practice, hospital guidelines, quality standards, and best-practice clinical environments.
Maintain accurate, timely, and legible documentation while contributing to audits, quality improvement initiatives, accreditation processes, and risk management activities.
Communicate effectively within the multidisciplinary team, manage complaints appropriately, and escalate issues to the Nurse Manager when required, deputising when necessary.
Participate actively in staff education by supporting induction, supervising students or new staff, and providing patient and family health education.
Engage in ongoing professional development, maintain a professional portfolio, and identify learning needs to enhance practice and contribute to continuous improvement.
Requirements Must hold current NMBI Registered General Nurse (RGN) licence.
Minimum of 2-3 year's experience in a Critical Care setting is preferred.
Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team.
Demonstrates motivation, initiative, and an innovative approach to nursing practice.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely.
Understanding of change management and adaptability in a dynamic clinical environment.
Excellent planning, organisation, and time management skills in managing workload and patient priorities.
Flexible approach to shift patterns, including internal rotations, night duty, and theatre on-call as required.
Up-to-date knowledge and experience in the specialised area within an acute hospital setting, including awareness of current national strategies and best practices.
Holds current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
