Overview
The Salesforce Digital Enterprise Technology Applications team is looking for an enthusiastic engineering manager to lead our application development teams that support our Professional Services organizations. This people‑ and technology‑focused leadership role will manage and guide a team of software engineers while nurturing an Ohana culture. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of increasing responsibility, building and leading technical teams, defining and implementing engineering strategy, and driving excellence.
Responsibilities
* Hire, develop, and cultivate amazing people.
* Lead a team of application developers and quality engineers through project initiation, execution, and deployment.
* Work closely with each direct staff member to assess and improve their skills and partner with them on defining their career paths.
* Influence technology direction and architecture across an integrated functional area.
* Innovate and optimize engineering processes and standards.
* Lead operational excellence and improve development team processes and metrics that influence productivity, efficiency, and quality of the scrum team.
* Daily management of objectives, priorities, trade‑offs, risk, and performance of all reporting staff (employees and contingent workers).
* Assign areas of ownership; ensure engineers have clear priorities and adequate resources.
* Lead and participate in technology discussions and planning with product management, internal business partners, and other Biz‑Tech delivery partners.
* Communicate status, risks to schedules, and offer mitigation strategies to ensure timely delivery of all committed projects across the delivery teams.
Required Qualifications
* 12+ years of software development experience with a distinguished track record on technically demanding projects, with at least 5 years of management experience.
* 5+ years of experience in Salesforce Platform, Java, HTML/JavaScript/CSS, MuleSoft, and relational databases.
* Strong technical background in object‑oriented programming and web application development.
* Significant experience in managing complex projects that require a deep understanding of application logic and dependencies.
* Proven passion for the personal and professional development of direct reports.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, impeccable organizational and time‑management skills.
* Passionate about innovation and creativity.
* Expertise in Agile development and methodologies.
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with code reusability, scalable solutions, and design patterns.
* Experience with Agile software development and test‑driven development.
* Ability to lead projects and mentor developers in best practices.
* Experience troubleshooting full‑service stack, end‑to‑end ownership.
* Led teams working on customer‑facing applications with high traffic volume.
* Ability to present designs to internal/external groups and review designs of others.
* Good knowledge of automation testing frameworks.
* Experience working in and around the software‑as‑a‑service and platform‑as‑a‑service architectures and/or industry.
Desired Skills / Experience
* Force.com development/implementation experience.
* Certifications in Salesforce Admin, Salesforce Developer, and/or Agentforce.
* Scrum Master Certification.
* Master’s degree or equivalent work experience.
