About the Role: Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) are currently recruiting for an IT Business & Application Support / Software Tester, to work in a key role to support business-critical applications, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring software quality through structured testing. This role bridges IT support and Quality Assurance, helping to optimise system performance and enhance user experience in HSI. This is being offered as a 2-year fixed term contract role, with the opportunity for extension. About the Organisation: HSI is recognised as the National Governing Body for the Irish Sport Horse sector. HSI unites equestrian sport and sport horse breeding under one governing body and is responsible for devising and implementing strategies for the development and promotion of an internationally competitive Irish equestrian industry, covering high-performance sport, breeding and production, coaching and education, sport and recreation. HSIs funding partners are the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM), Sport Ireland, the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and Sport Northern Ireland. Job Purpose: This important role combines business application support with software testing responsibilities, ensuring the smooth operation of critical systems and the delivery of high-quality software solutions for Horse Sport Ireland. Key Responsibilities: Application Support Provide first and second-line support for business applications across departments. Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, escalating to vendors or developers when necessary. Maintain documentation for application configurations, procedures, and known issues. Collaborate with business users to understand requirements and improve application functionality. Assist in system upgrades, patching, and deployment activities. Software Testing Design, develop, and execute test plans and test cases for new and existing software applications. Perform functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT). Identify, document, and track software defects using issue tracking tools. Work closely with developers and business analysts to ensure software meets business requirements. Contribute to automation testing initiatives where applicable. Skills and Experience: Essential: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum 3 years experience in application support and software testing roles. Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and testing methodologies. Familiarity with issue tracking and test management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail). Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work on your own initiative Ability to work effectively as part of a team and support your colleagues. Ability to follow procedures accurately and to meet deadlines effectively. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
