About the Role
The Speech & Language Therapist will join our multidisciplinary team at Orchard Community Care (Disability) to provide a range of speech and language therapy inputs to children and adults with an intellectual disability.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide comprehensive speech and language therapy assessments and interventions to children and young people with complex disabilities, focusing on enhancing their communication and functional abilities and participation in daily activities.
* Demonstrate exemplary clinical skills in SLT assessment, intervention, and diagnostics to meet the specific needs of children and young people with a range of disabilities, including physical, sensory, autism, etc.
* Provide a speech and language therapy service, including communication assessment, diagnostics, and intervention, as well as ongoing service delivery to children and adults with a range of disabilities.
* Develop individualized treatment plans and support plans based on evidence-based practices.
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and other MDT members in an interdisciplinary model, supporting the Regional Directors to provide holistic care.
* Engage with families, caregivers, staff, and families to provide education and support regarding their child's or the supported individual's communication needs.
* Participate in service development initiatives and quality improvement projects.
Team Support:
* Provide education, training, and support to team members providing care to empower them to facilitate the development of the people we support.
* Develop and maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, treatment individualised support plans, and progress reports, in accordance with professional and organisational standards.
Continuous Professional Development:
* Stay abreast of the latest research and best practices in paediatric occupational therapy and apply this knowledge to improve service delivery.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in speech and language therapy, particularly in the field of disabilities, by attending training courses and participating in research to improve service delivery.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
* A recognised third-level qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
* A minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience, preferably working with children and young adults with disabilities.
* Ideal experience in delivery of communication aid programmes, including Lamh, and be registered, or be eligible for registration, as a Speech & Language Therapist by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
* Valid Garda Clearance and valid Overseas Clearance (if applicant lived abroad for more than 6 months).
* A full Driver's licence with eligibility to drive in Ireland and access to a vehicle.
* Eligibility to work in the state without restriction.
Desirable Criteria:
* Clinical experience of working with children, adults, and their families as part of an interdisciplinary team, with relevant specific training.
* Sufficient clinical skills in Speech and Language Therapy assessment, intervention, and diagnostics to meet the specific needs of the relevant caseload.
