Clinical Specialist Speech & Language Therapist - Stroke Services
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Clinical Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to join a specialist stroke service team.
About the Role
This is a key role within a multidisciplinary setting, focused on delivering high-quality, evidence-based assessment and intervention for individuals recovering from stroke, particularly those with communication and swallowing difficulties.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct advanced assessments, diagnoses, and tailored intervention programs for individuals presenting with communication and/or swallowing disorders post-stroke.
* Lead clinical decision-making for complex caseloads and manage service delivery effectively.
* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members to ensure holistic and integrated care.
* Act as a clinical lead within the SLT team, providing support, mentorship, and guidance to colleagues.
* Maintain accurate and professional records in accordance with regulatory and organisational standards.
* Lead service development initiatives, audit processes, and contribute to clinical governance and quality assurance.
* Engage in continuing professional development and contribute to training programs and the broader development of stroke-related SLT services.
Essential Criteria
* CORU-registered Speech and Language Therapist.
* Minimum of 5 years post-qualification clinical experience, with a strong background in adult stroke rehabilitation.
* Demonstrated expertise in dysphagia assessment and management.
* Postgraduate education relevant to stroke, neurorehabilitation, or dysphagia.
* Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and clinical documentation skills.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience in leading service development or quality improvement projects.
* Participation in clinical research or audits in stroke or neurorehabilitation.
* Familiarity with national stroke pathways and service frameworks.
