Role Purpose
Opportunity to join an expanding dynamic cellular pathology service and develop specialist diagnostic and research interests with enthusiastic support of clinical colleagues.
Successful candidate will lead delivery of Breast Histopathology services as may be determined by Blackrock Clinic.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain awareness of the primacy of the patient in relation to all of the Hospital’s activities.
* Demonstrate behaviour consistent with the Values of the Hospital.
* Promote open communications throughout the hospital.
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team under the direction of the hospital CEO.
* Possess the necessary skill-mix to address current deficiencies.
* Provide clinical leadership in MDT context.
* Deliver high-quality diagnostic histopathology services.
* Contribute to teaching and supervision of pathology trainees and medical students.
* Lead and support quality assurance, audits, and INAB accreditation efforts.
* Support clinical research and continuous service improvement.
* Work collaboratively with hospital management and clinical leads.
Qualifications/Experience
* Specialist registration with the Medical Council of Ireland in Histopathology.
* Expected to demonstrate leadership.
* May have additional experience in other specialist areas to meet the needs of the Hospital; opportunity to develop other special interest sessions may be available.
* Responsible for management of patients under the candidate’s care and, in liaison with consultant colleagues, continuity of care when the candidate is absent.
* Strong communication and leadership skills in a multidisciplinary environment.
* Experience in clinical governance, laboratory accreditation (ISO 15189), and quality improvement.
* Expertise in Thoracic, Dermatology‑Pathology and cytopathology desirable.
