Clinical Nurse Manager II (CNM2) Endoscopy Clinical Facilitator / JAG Accreditation Temporary 1 Year Contract, Full Time Hours. Reporting to The CNM2 - Clinical Facilitator/JAG Accreditation will report to the CNM3 Endoscopy and the ADON Divisional Lead and is professionally accountable to the Director of Nursing. Purpose of the Role The purpose of the Endoscopy Clinical Practice Facilitator - JAG Accreditation role is to provide clinical leadership to the nursing and multi-professional team within the Endoscopy unit. This includes acting as an expert practitioner for the specific team of staff within Endoscopy and further liaising, guiding and advising the greater multi-disciplinary team and external agencies on the provision of optimum patient care and endoscopy activity. Responsibilities Include: Deliver, maintain and support the training of the Endoscopy staff in a range of routine and complex therapeutic Endoscopy procedures performed including the emergency endoscopy service. Support staff to achieve and maintain endoscopy competencies and feel competent and confident to deliver the care required in line with evidenced base practice, national guidelines, local policies and procedures. Enable and support Endoscopy staff to become enhanced skilled endoscopy nurses in the wide range of endoscopy procedures and therapies performed. The JAG Accreditation aspect of this role will manage the co-ordination of data collection and analysis and facilitate the implementation of subsequent service improvements to ensure that the Endoscopy services remain safe and effective thus achieving JAG accreditation. Provide clinical leadership to the nursing and multi-professional team within the Endoscopy unit. This includes acting as an expert practitioner for the specific team of staff within Endoscopy and further liaising, guiding and advising the greater multi-disciplinary team and external agencies on the provision of optimum patient care and endoscopy activity. The successful candidate will be expected to: Maintain own clinical competence with all aspects of Endoscopy practice and clinical skills. Demonstrate up-to-date clinical knowledge and skill and understanding of clinical practice within the specialty to provide assurance that the clinical skills training is evidence based and current, acting as both a role model and resource to colleagues. Provide clinical support to qualified registered nurses who are newly recruited to the Endoscopy Unit. Co-ordinate the management of work orientation programmes of Registered Nurses who are newly recruited to the Mercy University Hospital in collaboration with allocated preceptors. Support registered nurses in developing skills and competencies in order to fulfil their roles and responsibilities. Support registered nurses with preceptorship of undergraduate nurses. Be responsible for ensuring an optimum clinical learning environment, including the appropriate supports for nurses working in the Endoscopy unit and for registered nurses who are preceptors. Facilitate professional development for Registered General Nurses working in the Endoscopy unit. Assist in the triangulation of data/information from multiple sources, in coordination with undertaking observations of the clinical environments, practitioners, and patient care to inform JAG compliance, identification of quality issues and the follow up of action plans. Assist with the preparation of relevant quality and safety reports for submission for JAG accreditation. Drive the achievement of JAG accreditation through effective coordination and quality management. Foster a positive working environment that promotes continuous professional development, clinical excellence, and in-service education for all staff. Essential Criteria - Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition: Are registered in the relevant division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI / Bord Altranais agus Cnimhseachais na hireann) or entitled to be so registered. Have at least 5 years post registration full time (or an aggregate of 5 years post registration full time) experience of which 2 years (or an aggregate of 2 years post registration full time experience) must be in the speciality or related area. Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development. Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability including a high standard of suitability and clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role. Desirable Criteria: Post Registration Qualification in the related area, or commitment to undertake. Previous JAG accreditation experience.
