Senior Quantity Surveyor Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading contractor on an upcoming project in Limerick, Ireland.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the commercial management of large, high-profile projects in the region, working closely with the Commercial Manager and project teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget.
* Responsibility for the commercial aspects of our projects, including cost management, procurement, and contract administration.
* Development and maintenance of detailed cost plans and budgets, monitoring costs against budget and identifying variances.
* Leadership of the tendering process for subcontractor packages, reviewing bids, negotiating contracts, and making recommendations to senior management.
* Administration of construction contracts, including review of contract terms, preparation of subcontract agreements, and management of variations and claims.
* Accurate quantity takeoffs and measurements, ensuring quantities are in line with project requirements.
* Collaboration with project teams to identify value engineering opportunities.
* Management of change control processes, assessing the impact of changes on project costs and schedules and negotiating equitable solutions with stakeholders.
* Preparation and defense of contractual claims, ensuring compliance with contract terms and applicable regulations.
* Guidance and support to junior quantity surveyors and other project team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you will need:
* Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in quantity surveying or commercial management.
* Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes, and industry standards.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
* Proficiency in cost estimating, cost control, and financial management.
* Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport with stakeholders at all levels.
