Our leading Financial Services client is looking for a Mainframe Developer to join their team on a daily rate contract basis. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in mainframe systems and an expertise in various mainframe technologies. As part of a dynamic and high-performing team, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting critical mainframe environments, ensuring seamless operations, and delivering effective solutions in a fast-paced financial services environment. Excellent daily rates on offer. Key responsibilities: Manage and optimise IMS/DB2 database environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. Administer and maintain Endevor for efficient version control and configuration management across mainframe systems. Support and troubleshoot COBOL/REXX/ISPF/JCL/OPC applications and batch processes, ensuring smooth operations. Collaborate with development teams to provide technical guidance and implement improvements to mainframe-based applications and environments. Ensure system integrity and assist in planning, installation, and migration activities for critical mainframe systems. Provide day-to-day support for UNIX/Windows environments as they relate to mainframe systems. Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and suggest solutions to enhance efficiency and reliability. Provide troubleshooting and resolution for incidents related to mainframe environments and associated applications. Liaise with cross-functional teams, including development, testing, and support, to ensure alignment with business objectives. Essential Experience: IMS/DB2 Database Management: In-depth experience in managing IMS and DB2 databases, with a focus on optimising performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring reliability. Endevor Administration: Expertise in administering Endevor for configuration management, version control, and deployment processes in a mainframe environment. Mainframe Development Skills: Strong proficiency in COBOL, REXX, ISPF, JCL, and OPC, with hands-on experience in maintaining and enhancing applications running on mainframe platforms. Development Background: Previous experience in application development, with a solid understanding of software development life cycles, debugging, and issue resolution.
