Senior Project Engineer - Water Services Flooding & Drainage role at RPS, a Tetra Tech company, based in Dublin. We are seeking experienced engineers to support and deliver existing and new high-profile projects within the flooding & drainage team for public and private sector clients in Ireland and beyond. About the Role
As a member of the flooding & drainage team, you will be central to project delivery, helping to deliver projects in urbanisation, natural resources and sustainability. You will work as part of an integrated team to deliver high quality engineering services for our clients, potentially on multiple projects concurrently. You will provide technical input to cross-sector internal project teams supporting delivery of transportation, commercial/residential development and environmental infrastructure projects. You will prepare technical reports and communicate outputs effectively to clients. You will also further develop and broaden the technical capacity of the flooding and drainage team.
Responsibilities
* Report to Line Manager / Business Unit Leader.
* Work as part of an integrated team to deliver high quality engineering services for our clients, with potential to manage multiple projects concurrently.
* Provide technical input to cross-sector multidisciplinary internal project teams supporting delivery of transportation, commercial/residential development and environmental infrastructure projects.
* Prepare technical reports and effectively communicate outputs to clients.
* Further develop and broaden the technical capacity of the flooding and drainage team.
About You
* Level 8 degree in Civil / Environmental Engineering or related discipline; a Level 9 Masters is advantageous.
* Membership of a professional body such as Engineers Ireland or Institution of Civil Engineers.
* Strong desire to develop to Chartered Engineer level.
* Project-focused, proactive and independent with the ability to support project management.
* Proven ability to deliver projects and tasks to a high quality, on time and within budget.
* Experience in design/delivery of flood risk assessment & management, flood defence infrastructure, and surface water collection & management systems.
* Excellent knowledge of flood hydrology and hydraulic processes.
* Significant experience in open channel and network hydraulic modelling (Infoworks ICM) with strong model application experience; knowledge of FloodModeller, Estry, TuFlow, HEC-RAS 1D/2D or similar models is beneficial.
* Ability to produce high-quality reports, presentations and deliverables to communicate complex issues and justify design decisions.
Key Skills & Attributes
* Lead technical role responsible for full hydraulic model output delivery.
* Experience with hydraulic modelling packages (Infoworks ICM; familiarity with FloodModeller, Estry, TuFlow, HEC-RAS 1D/2D or similar).
* Understanding of Flood Risk Management Methods, nature-based solutions and catchment, river and drainage processes.
* Ability to provide specialist technical knowledge and advice on hydraulic modelling to project teams.
* Strong QA discipline in hydraulic modelling to ensure deliverables are fit for purpose.
* Ability to apply hydraulic modelling outputs to design civil infrastructure elements to meet project objectives.
* Experience in economic appraisal (CBA and MCA techniques) would be beneficial.
* Desire to contribute to the team’s technical development and apply best practices to deliver innovative solutions.
* Experience working on multi-disciplinary projects with engineering, planning and environmental professionals.
* Ability to work independently to facilitate timely project delivery.
* Effective written and verbal communication with clients, suppliers and colleagues.
* Professional, diligent, and well-organised work approach.
* Experience with civil engineering design packages (e.g., CAD, Civil 3D) and GIS (QGIS or Arc).
* Excellent IT skills with MS Office (Word and Excel).
