Position Overview
The
Technical Superintendent
will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective technical operation of assigned cruise and/or expedition vessels. This role requires a proactive leader with strong engineering expertise, a deep understanding of the cruise industry, and the ability to ensure the highest standards of performance, safety, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure the
safe, reliable, and economic operation
of assigned vessels.
* Be fully conversant with and effectively
implement the Company's Management System
.
* Contribute to the
development and improvement of company procedures
.
* Monitor technical performance
, operational condition, and maintenance of vessels under responsibility.
* Ensure all vessels remain
fully certified
and compliant with international regulations and classification requirements.
* Plan, coordinate, and oversee
repairs, dry dockings, and refits
, ensuring cost efficiency and timely completion.
* Maintain
prudent budgetary control
and financial management of vessel operations.
* Prepare and submit
technical reports
to owners in line with management agreements.
* Support shipboard management with
technical and operational guidance
, fostering teamwork and collaboration.
* Promote and develop a
strong safety culture
and environmental & energy awareness onboard.
* Assist with
purchasing activities
and cost control in accordance with company procedures.
* Ensure vessels are appropriately
manned and resourced
to maintain operational excellence.
Qualifications and Experience
* Marine Engineering degree
from a recognised university, with at least
3 years' seagoing experience
onboard cruise and/or expedition vessels,
or
* Holder of a
Chief Engineer's license
with a minimum of
2 years' sea service
as Chief Engineer on cruise and/or expedition ships.
* Minimum
2 years' experience as a Technical Superintendent
within a cruise ship management or shipping company.
* Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Excellent
command of the English language
(both written and spoken).
* Comprehensive knowledge of
marine industry standards
, classification society and flag state requirements, and relevant
international regulations
.
* Proven
technical expertise
in vessel systems and machinery.
* Experience in
purchasing and budgetary cost control
processes.
