Ayrton Group is seeking a SHEQ Officer to join our client, an Environmental Services company, on a pharmaceutical construction project in Waterford, with work across two sites in the Meath region. This role is suitable for recent graduates or those looking to develop their SHEQ careers.
The ideal candidate will have a background in Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental fields, through work experience or academic study. The SHEQ Officer will work with various departments to foster a culture of SHEQ excellence.

This is an initial 12-month contract with potential for permanency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Identify hazards, risks, and environmental impacts in the workplace, report through internal systems, and recommend control measures.
2. Conduct safety inspections, environmental assessments, and audits to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
3. Provide training to employees, contractors, and visitors.
4. Investigate accidents, incidents, and quality issues; develop and implement corrective actions.
5. Monitor workplace conditions to prevent occupational health issues and promote employee well-being.
6. Ensure compliance with local and regional regulations.
7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address SHEQ concerns.
8. Develop and maintain emergency response plans and conduct drills as needed.
9. Promote a culture of SHEQ excellence throughout the organization.
10. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance SHEQ processes.
Key Requirements:
1. A qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental studies is advantageous.
2. Proven experience as an EHS Officer or similar role, preferably in a high-risk industry.
3. Strong analytical skills to identify hazards, risks, and improvement opportunities.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for training and collaboration.
5. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software.
8. Must be legally permitted to live and work in Ireland.
