Kildare Contract Type: Full-time Position, six months to begin with, possible extension Working Hours: 35 hours per week Salary: Aligned with HSE pay scales for the appropriate Senior grade Excel Recruitment is proud to partner with a busy Hospital in Kildare to recruit a Senior Physiotherapist to lead Its Respiratory Physiotherapy services. This busy acute 150 bedded hospital provides services to over a quarter of a million people in Kildare. As a Senior Physiotherapist You'll work across ICU, acute wards, and respiratory-focused caseloads, delivering high-impact interventions that directly enhance patient outcomes. About the Role As a Senior Physiotherapist in Respiratory Care, you will lead the delivery of physiotherapy interventions to patients with acute respiratory needs including those in ICU, general wards, and high-dependency settings. Your clinical decision-making, assessment skills, and commitment to rehabilitation will be essential in providing safe, effective, and person-centred care. Other clinical services within the hospital include Respiratory Care (including ICU), stroke unit, neurology in patients, ED Frailty At the Front Door, Musculoskeletal OPD (including clinical specialist triage within orthopaedics and rheumatology, GP and consultant referral), Virtual Fracture Clinics, Day Hospital, In-Patient Rehabilitation, Cardiac Rehabilitation and Women Health. Key Responsibilities: To lead and coordinate and deliver high quality physiotherapy services for the patients requiring respiratory care in the cute wards (including ICU) in accordance with the mission, values and strategic plan of the Organisation. Deliver comprehensive physiotherapy assessment, treatment planning, and intervention for patients with acute respiratory conditions, including tracheostomy management and critical care rehabilitation. Support early mobilisation, discharge planning, and ongoing care through effective treatment and communication. Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, and allied health professionals to ensure continuity and quality of care. Participate in and lead case conferences, MDT meetings, and ward rounds. Supervise junior physiotherapists, students, and physiotherapy assistants, contributing to professional development within the team. Document care and maintain accurate records in line with hospital protocols and professional standards. Promote and engage in continuous professional development, research, and clinical audit to improve service delivery. Be responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of a quality service in line with best practice Oversee and monitor the standards of best practice within their Physiotherapy team Contribute to the service planning process Assist the Physiotherapy Manager in service development encompassing policy development and implementation What to Expect: A dynamic and forward-thinking hospital environment committed to continuous improvement. A minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience, including at least 6 months of recent experience in an ICU or respiratory-focused setting. Proven ability to manage tracheostomy and complex respiratory patients independently. Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice and continuing professional development in respiratory care. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team-working skills. Strong documentation and clinical reasoning abilities. Willingness to participate in weekend/bank holiday rotas.
